Warwick researcher to explore the search for flavour in modern Britain

The UK's love affair with tasty food from around the world wasn’t dented by lockdown, with home delivery services bringing Indian, Chinese, Thai, and many other international cuisines to the doorstep. But what drives people’s love of new flavours and willingness to experiment? Dr Mandy Sadan, Associate Professor in the Global Sustainable Development (GSD) Department, will explore ‘Flavour in the Making of Modern Britain’ thanks to the award of a Major Research Fellowship from the Leverhulme Trust.

Warwick’s widening participation success recognised at House of Lords

The success of Warwick Scholars, a social mobility scheme that addresses the barriers to attainment, progression, and success by enabling students from the least socially mobile communities to reach their academic potential and thrive during their studies at the university, has been recognised at an awards ceremony held at the House of Lords.  


National Teaching Fellows awarded to two Warwick Academics

Dr Letizia Gramaglia (WIHEA) and Dr Meleisa Ono-George (History), have been awarded new National Teaching Fellows in 2021.
National Teaching Fellowships are the most prestigious awards for excellence in higher education teaching, and impact on student outcomes. 2021 sees the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS) surpass 1,000 awardees in its 21-year history, 55 academics have been awarded the fellowship, including Dr Ono-George and Dr Gramaglia.

Warwick Law School researcher is British Science Festival 2021 Award Lecture Winner for Social Sciences

Dr Laura Lammasniemi of Warwick Law School has been chosen to deliver the 2021 British Science Association Social Sciences Award Lecture, in recognition of her innovative research and commitment to public engagement. The Award Lectures have been presented at the British Science Festival since 1990. They celebrate and promote front line research being carried out in the UK by early-career scientists, and have become a springboard for many successful science communicators such as Professor Brian Cox (2006) and Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock (2008).


Warwick Economics student honoured with prestigious Diana Award

Warwick undergraduate Sana Mittar, 19, from New Delhi, has received a prestigious Diana Award in recognition of her work supporting vulnerable communities in India during the pandemic. Established in 1999 in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, The Diana Award scheme recognises young people between 9 and 25 who are going above and beyond in their daily life to create and sustain positive change through social action or humanitarian work.
