Jazz 625 at the BBC

dizzyJazz 625 was a landmark in music programming, broadcast during BBC2's first two years (1964-1966). While American stars like Duke Ellington, Dave Brubeck and Dizzy Gillespie were showcased, the programme also recorded British talent like Johnny Dankworth and Tubby Hayes. In this podcast, Dr Nicolas Pillai (Film and Television Studies, Warwick) talks to Professor Tim Wall (School of Media, Birmingham City University) and Dr Richard Wallace (Film and Television Studies, Warwick) about the programme's origins, its engagement with popular music culture and its legacy.
