National Student Survey ranks University of Warwick third amongst Russell Group institutions for overall satisfaction

  • Students rank Warwick third for overall satisfaction amongst the Russell Group of UK’s leading universities

  • Warwick moves to first place within the Russell Group for Student Voice

  • Final-year students score Warwick at 81.4% for overall satisfaction with their academic experience

Students at the University of Warwick have the third-highest level of overall satisfaction with their academic experience of all institutions in the Russell Group of leading universities, according to the latest results of an annual survey.

Results from this year’s National Student Survey (NSS) have been published by the Office for Students. The NSS seeks the views of final-year undergraduate students across the UK every year. The survey enables higher education providers to continuously evaluate, improve and benchmark the courses they offer, and it helps to inform decisions made by prospective students about where to study.

The National Student survey is one of the largest of its kind in the world with almost 325,000 responses across the UK this year.

The University of Warwick’s Overall Satisfaction score this year is 81.4% and ranks it third among the Russell Group of world-class, research-intensive universities in the UK.

Warwick was also ranked first among the Russell Group for Student Voice and for Assessment and Feedback, and ranked highly for Academic Support, Learning Opportunities, Teaching and Organisation and Management (top 5).

Over 2,800 (62%) of final-year students at Warwick who were eligible took part in the survey this year.

Professor Gwen Van der Velden, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education), said: “The rich feedback provided to us by our students gives us a lot to think about as we continue to work on preparations for the next academic year. During another year of continued change, our latest result in the National Student Survey demonstrates the dedication of our staff in putting the needs of students at the heart of all we do. It is also testament to the tenacity of our final year students.”

The NSS results follow the University of Warwick being named University of the Year for Teaching Quality and as runner-up for University of the Year by the Sunday Times’ Good University Guide 2022. Warwick is ranked in the top ten universities in the UK in the Guardian University Guide 2022 and Complete University Guide 2023.
