Sporting events and cultural experiences on the big screen at Warwick this summer

The University of Warwick has announced the open air screening of several international sporting events, as well cultural treats like opera and ballet on campus this summer.

For arts enthusiasts, Warwick will be showing a number of performances live from the Royal Opera House, beginning with the ballet Romeo and Juliet on 11 June, and the operas Carmen and The Marriage of Figaro in July, as part of the BP Big Screen event. Sports fans can enjoy a summer of open air sporting fixtures with the Women’s World Cup finals, the Wimbledon finals and the Netball World Cup finals all showing in July.

Ian Rowley, Director of Engagement at the University of Warwick, said: “Whether you are a sports fan or a culture vulture, we have something for everyone showing on our Piazza Big Screen this summer. Come and join us on campus to share the big-game atmosphere for the Women’s World Cup. There’s tennis and netball to enjoy too. Or why not bring a picnic and a few friends and enjoy a summer’s evening watching the opera or ballet streamed live from the Royal Opera House. ”

Visitors to campus are advised to check the website before travelling and are informed that crowd management provisions will be in place for some of the football games, based on expected numbers in attendance. Drinks and food will be available to buy from Piazza stalls or Student Union outlets.
