University of Warwick to host its first British tennis tour event

Talented tennis players from across the UK will be travelling to the University of Warwick next week to take part in its first British tour event.

The AEGON British Tour will take place at the University’s Indoor Tennis Centre from Monday 22 until Saturday 27 March.

This event is designed to give up and coming players an opportunity to compete against each other and gain competition experience to help them become professional tennis players.  The tournaments are open to all ages with a mixture of adults and juniors competing.

One of the players taking part is Andrew Fitzpatrick, 20,  from Solihull. Andrew regularly trains at Warwick’s Indoor Tennis Centre and is currently ranked 24th in the UK.

He said: “It is fantastic news that the University of Warwick is holding its first British Tour Event. We are very lucky to have such a facility in Warwickshire that players can train at, which is also so accessible for players in and around the Midlands. This week is going to be very competitive due to the large number and quality of entrants.”
