WMG Academy for Young Engineers appoints Principal

Kate Tague, Principal WMG AcademyThe WMG Academy for Young Engineers is delighted to announce that Kate Tague has been appointed as their first Principal.

This innovative new School is set to open its doors to pupils in September 2014 and Kate will leave her current position at the Black Country University Technical College in September 2013 to take up leadership of the WMG Academy.

Kate has worked at the Black Country University Technical College, which specialises in Engineering and Science, since June 2011. Prior to that she was Assistant Headteacher and Director of Specialism in Tamworth.

During her career Kate has also worked as a Senior Adviser for 14-19 education at Staffordshire Local Authority and also worked for Edexcel (now Pearson) Awarding Body as a Curriculum Adviser for vocational qualifications.

Kate Tague said she was excited about her new position with the WMG Academy for Young Engineers.

She said: “The WMG Academy for Young Engineers is an exciting and unique opportunity for 14-19 year olds in the Coventry, Warwick and Solihull areas, to study technical and vocational qualifications developing employment skills and knowledge for the future.

“Students at the Academy will gain experience through their studies of working with the UK leading employers such as Jaguar Land Rover, National Grid and SCC, and will be able to progress along numerous pathways into work, apprenticeships or university. I am delighted to have been appointed as Principal and look forward to working with the Academy’s business and University sponsors in preparation for our opening in September 2014.”

Director of the WMG Academy for Young Engineers, Richard Hutchins said: “Kate will bring a wealth of expertise and experience to the WMG Academy. We are delighted that she has accepted the position and we are really looking forward to working with her.”

Kate will be at the WMG Academy for Young Engineers Taster Event next month and is looking forward to meeting prospective pupils and parents.
