What drives local innovation? Comparing place-based and micro-geographic perspectives
This month the Enterprise Research Centre welcome Jo Turner and Stephen Roper from Warwick Business School to speak about on place-based policy and how UK innovation support remains strongly centralised. Based on recent ERC research we explore the value of place-based (local district council) and micro-geographic (lower super output area) perspectives for understanding innovation activity in England. Combining insights from both perspectives suggests the value of re-considering whether current place-based policy prescriptions are appropriate, or whether an even more granular approach reflecting neighbourhood characteristics is more helpful.
