University of Warwick Science & Technology for Health Global Priorities Programme (GPP) Research Student Sabbatical Programme

The University of Warwick Research Student Sabbatical Programme offers an opportunity for talented and committed research students with a strong health/biomedical/biological sciences background to experience a fast-paced business or industrial research environment through undertaking a paid placement at the University of Warwick. Sabbaticals can last from 3-6 months, and may take place during either the university summer or for 1-2 days per week in term-time, and during Masters or PhD projects. On completion of the University of Warwick Science & Technology for Health GPP Research Student Sabbatical Programme, students will have achieved the following outcomes:

  • Exposure to cutting-edged science across a broad spectrum of health disciplines
  • Ability to understand and assess commercial information
  • Experience in working to corporate needs and deadlines


Successful applicants should fulfill the following criteria:

  • Be in the process of undertaking either a Masters or PhD (any year)
  • Possess a strong background in health, biomedical or biological sciences (cell culture experience preferred but not essential)
  • Be motivated to gain experience of working in a corporation, business and/or industrial environment undertaking short fast-paced projects which will be both desk-top and laboratory-based
