Gathering Feedback from the Research Community

Hosted by Warwick's Interdisciplinary Research Spotlights, a soft launch event was held on 26 February for Warwick's new Interdisciplinary Research Directory—a resource designed to support future collaborations by making it easier to find and connect with experts across a wide range of disciplines.

The Directory is still in development, and the launch provided an opportunity to gather feedback from our research community on desirable features.

Attendees ranked features suggested by the Interdisciplinary Research Programme Team and had the chance to propose additional ideas.

Using this input, we assessed which features could be implemented in a realistic and timely manner.

List of potential features

Ranking of proposed suggestions

1. Suggested profiles from other disciplines; 2. Ability to favourite profiles and have a report sent to you; 3. Feed of recent publications; 4. Colour coding by department; 5. Ability to favourite search terms; 6. Colour coding by career stage

Additional features discussed in the Q&A

  • That some teams/resource accounts could be featured in a card as well eg. for the Research Technology Platforms
  • An option to broadcast if someone is currently 'Open ' or 'Closed' to collaboration (similar to the 'Open to Work' feature on Linkedin)
  • Regular reminders to update profile/invitations to join the directory (One proposed mechanism for updating existing profiles is our annual Interdisciplinary Research Survey in November)
  • Additional social channels to foster discussion about specific funding opportunities (we propose to do this via Teams)

Thank you to all those who contributed to co-creating this resource.
