2020 entry students

Warwick Undergraduate Bursaries form a generous programme of non-repayable support. Awards of up to £3,000pa are intended to help with course-related costs. The following information is provisional and subject to approval from the Office for Students.

Am I eligible?

To qualify for an award, you must fulfil the following criteria:

• Be a Warwick home student enrolled on your first, full-time (inc. 2+2) undergraduate course starting in September 2020 (or October 2020 for 2+2 students)
• Have a family income as assessed by Student Finance England at below £35,001
• Be in receipt of a tuition fee loan* and maintenance loan from Student Finance England
• For your sixth form education have been educated at a state school or college in England or received a full fee-paying means-tested bursary at an Independent School in England or a partial means-tested bursary which is clearly indicative of an annual family income below £25,001 a year

*With the exception of students granted the WBS Foundation Year Scholarship

What help is available each year?

[1] Additional bursaries are targeted at students most in need. The University will pay additional support of £1,000pa to students who meet the criteria above and one or more of the following:
• Students who are Care Leavers or who are from a Foyer background
• Mature students aged 21 or over at the start of their undergraduate course in 2020-21
• Students in receipt of the Parents Learning Allowance*, Childcare Grant, Adult Dependents Grant or increased student maintenance loan from the UK Government as part of their student support package
• Students classed as independent students for student support purposes
• Students in receipt of Disabled Students’ Allowance*, Personal Independence Payment (PIP)* or Disability Living Allowance (DLA)*
* If this is applicable you will need to fill in the online Additional Bursary Application Form which will be available in February 2020.

How do I apply?

Students who attended a state school in England do not need to apply for our Warwick Bursary as this will be awarded automatically. Students who attended an independent school in England should follow the steps outlined in the table below.

  1. Apply to Student Finance England and provide the required evidence of your financial circumstances.
  2. When your assessment is complete, we will email to you to confirm your entitlement.

How will I be paid?

Warwick Bursaries will be paid directly into the same bank account that your student loan and grants are paid into so there is no need to notify us of your bank details. You will receive an instalment each term of about a third of the yearly total. Your confirmation email will let you know the amounts and payment dates. If you are eligible for the additional bursary, this will be paid as a one-off payment in term 2.
