Staff Spotlight - Joy Pinks
How long have you worked for Warwick Accommodation Off Campus?
I’ve worked for Warwick Accommodation since 1991, starting on Reception/Allocations, then Staff and Family Housing, before becoming a Property Manager in 1994 for the off campus division.
What’s the most interesting part of your job?
Being a Deputy Warden on campus I find helping students most rewarding and this also applies to my job as a Property Manager.
What’s the most challenging part of your job?
Having to juggle between owners and students when assessing faults and damages.
What’s one significant change you’ve seen in the student housing sector over the past 5 years?
When I first started all properties had basic facilities and these were accepted as part of living off-campus. Now students compare the quality of fixtures and fittings with those on-campus and expect the same when living off-campus.
How do you relax?
I have 7 grandchildren and enjoy being with them, mostly at weekends. I walk the dog every day and play bingo on a Sunday. I enjoy having the odd drink and I also enjoy travelling and try to go away at least twice a year; having recently started cruising to all areas of the world.
