Shape the future of education at Warwick - play your part in the ITLR

A vital part of the Institutional Teaching and Learning Review (ITLR) is the work of the review panel. Each academic department and professional services cluster will have its own review panel, which will engage with the self-evaluation document that has been produced by the department or cluster, and people in the department, to reach a view on education quality, student experience and student support in the department.

The campaign is well underway to recruit 270 staff and students to our ITLR panels. We are recruiting panel chairs, panel members, students and secretariat - there are a wide variety of roles available, all providing different opportunities to build skills and enhance knowledge. More information about all of the roles is available on the ITLR website, where we've provided a breakdown of the composition of each review panel.

Taking on a role in the ITLR gives you the chance to get involved in a strategically important university-wide project that will inform our next Education Strategy. But there's much more to it than that - it also allows you to get unique insight into the work of other departments, to learn and share best practice, as well as allowing you to build your network within Warwick through working with colleagues from across the University.

Jill ShawJill Shaw, who was Project Manager for ITLR 2017, would encourage anyone considering taking part in the ITLR to sign up - for her, the scale of the exercise emphasised what we can achieve when we work together:

"I remember how the whole University pulled together to deliver the ITLR, with hundreds of colleagues from across academic departments and professional services working together on the reviews. It was a great example of how Warwick can mobilise around a common goal. Working with such a great range of colleagues from across the University made it an extremely rewarding experience."

Getting involved in the ITLR can also be a great way of developing new skills and enhancing your career prospects - with an opportunity that comes about once every five years. For Jill, the knowledge she gained from the ITLR has already paid dividends:

"I learnt so much about teaching, learning and the student experience at Warwick through the ITLR. That knowledge has been incredibly valuable in subsequent projects I have worked on. It was also a real test of my project management skills, and a great opportunity to expand my network at Warwick."

We've seen a great response to our campaign so far, but there's still time to sign up to take part in the ITLR and have the chance to gain the benefits that involvement in the review can bring. As Jill says:

"It's an excellent development opportunity. I would encourage people to get involved to enhance their skills and experience, and to meet and learn from a range of colleagues across the University."
