ITLR update - February 2023

The review stage of the ITLR is now well underway. The ITLR Project Team have been delivering training, undertaking right to work checks for External and Student Reviewers, and continuing to support review panels as they begin to hold meetings and review Self-Evaluation Documents.

All 38 panels are now active, with over 250 panellists now reviewing the Self-Evaluation Documents and evidence sets that have been submitted by academic departments and professional services clusters. At the time of writing, one third of the meetings have been scheduled - 60 out of the 190 total meetings that will take place over the coming months - and over 35% of the panels have had at least one meeting.

Panels are meeting with their department or cluster at three points:

  • Context-setting meeting (2b): where lines of enquiry are shared with the reviewed department or cluster, and requests are made for any clarification or further evidence.
  • Review Visit 1 (online): focusing on discussion around quality assurance.
  • Review Visit 2 (in-person): focusing on discussion around quality enhancement.

The ITLR Project Team is continuing to support everyone involved in the ITLR, and have developed new events and resources to facilitate this, including:

  • Twice-weekly drop-in sessions for panellists, both online and in-person, allowing panel members to ask questions and seek advice throughout the stages of the review process. Look out for details of these events via email and on the ITLR events page.
  • Troubleshooting questions covering potential issues that may arise during the review process - if you have a query, please take a look at these to see if your question has been answered there.
  • Weekly email updates to Review Sponsors, to ensure that everyone is up to date on the latest developments.
  • On Tuesday 28th February, we will be holding a Common Themes workshop for panel Chairs and review panel members who are leading on or have an interest in each of the Common Themes. The session will support your planning and preparation for Review Visit 2, where Evaluation Area 4 - Common Themes will be discussed with your reviewed Academic Department or Cluster. Invitations to the event have been sent out - if you would like to find out more, please email the ITLR Project Team.

Information about every aspect of the ITLR can be found on the ITLR webpages.
