Module content and teaching
The module aims to develop the skills in, and knowledge of, microeconomics necessary for a career as an academic economist. Specifically it aims to take students from the level taught in Masters programmes to being able to understand, appreciate, and ultimately contribute to, research at the frontier. It is intended to be comparable to modules taught at good research universities in the USA and elsewhere in Europe.
Principal learning outcomes
Have a thorough understanding of the main techniques of modern microeconomic theory; Have a detailed knowledge of recent research in some key areas of microeconomic theory; Be in a position to apply modern techniques to develop microeconomic models in their own research.
