Module content and teaching

Principal aims

This module provides students with either: 1) An opportunity to consider in depth an area of academic and professional interest related to education. The dissertation demonstrates the ability to analyse and synthesise relevant literature, produce coherent arguments supported by relevant evidence and logical discussion and acknowledges sources of ideas and information. Or 2) an opportunity to conduct and report a piece of empirical research in the field of education.

Principal learning outcomes

1) Subject knowledge and understanding. Demonstrate detailed knowledge and understanding of a specific topic within the field of education 2) Demonstrate use of information technology e.g. via use of the internet 3) Use of relevant research skills 4) Demonstrate ability in critical analysis 5) Demonstrate ability to understand and articulate new concepts 6) Demonstrate ability to plan and structure a sustained report of research or a piece of sustained academic scholarship related to education
