Module content and teaching

Principal aims

This module is intended to support students in their reading of research articles and to give them a broad overview of a range of methodologies appropriate to different types of applied linguistic research. It will also provide a basis for working on dissertations in the final phase of the course.

Principal learning outcomes

By the end of the module students should be familiar with a broad range of types of research and understand characteristic approaches to the collection, analysis and interpretation of data. They should also be able to carry out research for the dissertation with the support of a supervisor.
