Principal aims
"1. To construct a strategic view of change capability; 2. To understand the essential components of building successful change architecture; 3. To develop an understanding of the nature of strategic leadership; 4. To understand the value of developing a common vision for the sector; 5. To appreciate the value of strategic thinking within a climate of networks and partnership; 6. To develop the capacity to work more effectively through partnership and collaboration; 7. To enhance individual and organisational decision making capability; 8. To appreciate the nature of organizational complexities and develop strategies that accommodate their impact on organizational effectiveness; 9. To examine the nature of dialogical leadership and its value to implementation strategies. "
Principal learning outcomes
Subject knowledge and understanding: Demonstrate an understanding of the principles for applying successful change; Demonstrate knowledge of change architecture and how to develop change architecture models; Understand the scope of the strategic leadership context; Demonstrate an understanding of organisational complexity; Develop a more robust strategic approach to both organizational and sector issues; Demonstrate an understanding of the range of strategies available to deliver effective implementation. Cognitive Skills; Identify readiness for change and undertake a gap analysis; Identify the level of change capability in the organisation; Undertake a strategic awareness audit within the organisation; Demonstrate and coach strategic thinking at appropriate levels in the workplace; Mobilise networks and partnerships within the sector , adding value through professional leadership. Key Skills: Construct a strategic view of change; Develop skills in dialogue and appreciative inquiry. Subject-Specific/Professional Skills: Design change initiatives and monitor their outcomes; Provide leadership skills in the implementation of change; Communicate and lead the strategic direction of the organization and sector with increased confidence and skill.
