Principal aims
To enable students to develop a general understanding of assisted reproduction technology; To advance the students understanding of the scientific background of infertility and assisted reproduction technology; To provide a clinical perspective of infertility treatment and patient management; To develop skills in practical aspects of embryology, semenology and assisted reproduction technology techniques; To promote the intellectual and personal development of the students within the context of assisted reproduction technology; To give students the opportunity to continue their professional development through the study of assisted reproduction technology.
Principal learning outcomes
A sound understanding of assisted reproduction technology; A sound grasp of patient selection, management and counselling; An advanced theoretical knowledge of practical aspects of embryology and semenology; A sound understanding of factors contributing to male and female infertility; A theoretical knowledge of the ethics of assisted reproduction technology; A comprehensive understanding of the legislation relating to infertility treatment and the role of the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority; Critical analysis and interpretation of scientific dataFamiliarity with laboratory skills in embryology and semenology; Critical interpretation and dissemination of current knowledge; Retrieve, sift and evaluate information from a variety of sources; Recognition and implementation of evidence based medicine; 1.
