Module content and teaching

Principal aims

The course will enhance your knowledge and understanding of CSII and increase your knowledge and practical skills in relation to: physiology of insulin secretion and of insulin delivery via a pump; evidence base for using candidate selection; manual handling of pumps and management of basal and bolus insulin doses; carbohydrate counting; dealing with hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia; dealing with special situations: pregnancy, illness, exercise; national guidance and funding issues and providing a clinical service for people using insulin pumps.

This course will keep you at the forefront of developments in insulin therapy and you will learn evidence based practice as well as increasing your practical skills.
