Module content and teaching

Principal aims

This module aims to give students a thorough grounding in the principles of immunisation and communicable diseases preparing them for a potential role in immunisation coordination and advice and control of communicable diseases.

Principal learning outcomes

Students will be able to: Demonstrate an advanced understanding of the concepts of paediatric communicable disease control and prevention; Understand the theoretical and practical problems of immunisation and be able to reflect on the consequences of these problems; Understand the epidemiology of paediatric infectious diseases and how they affect populations; Be able to reflect on how their own practice might be affected by the above.
