Module content and teaching
Within 40 pages students have to complete a dissertation on a subject approved by the MASDOC CDT and formulated by their supervisor which demonstrates detailed knowledge or approaches the frontiers of research of an area of mathematics and/or statistics within the four themes of MASDOC.
Principal learning outcomes
Write coherent mathematics texts where mathematical ideas are clearly explained and applied. Apply theoretical tools in various applied settings. Understand some main ideas and techniques in applied mathematics and statistics associated with the research areas of MASDOC. Independently review and study a subject of scientific interest. Summarise knowledge in a dissertation including literature review, description, formulation, analysis and computation where appropriate.
