Module content and teaching

Principal aims

This module will build upon the knowledge of the essentials of project management established by the Project Planning Management and Control module. In particular the application of management tools and techniques in a single project will now be extended to give participants an ability in the larger, more complex scenario of multiple projects where the interactions and risks present a further dimension of challenges to success.

Principal learning outcomes

"On completion of this course modules, successful participants will be able to: Operate effectively within the context in which Project and Programme Management is conducted Apply the principles and philosophies which underlie successful multi-project and programme management; Understand the multiple human factors which influence the conduct of project and programme management; Systematically apply the methodologies and tools used in multi-project and programme management; Recognise the benefits of a programme management approach; Recognise, anticipate and manage the inherent uncertainties and difficulties in programme activities; Recognise and appraise the human, financial and business implications of options and actions, and make decisions in complex and unpredictable situations; Plan and manage dynamic development and change; Estimate, plan and cost activities, projects and programmes; Monitor and manage activities, costs, projects and programmes; Assess needs for change and to flexibly adapt to change when appropriate."
