Module content and teaching

Principal aims

This module is intended as an introduction to economics for students with a relatively strong mathematical background, and mathematics is used to extend the analysis.

Principal learning outcomes

At the end of the year students should have a good grasp of the main theories and be ready if they wish to embark upon more advanced economics options taught in the second year, in particular, EC220/221 Mathematical Economics 1, and EC204 Economics 2.

Timetabled teaching activities

2 lectures per week in the Autumn and Spring Terms plus fortnightly seminars
