Module content and teaching

Principal aims

Together with EC202 Microeconomics 2 (to be taken in the second year), this module aims to provide students with a thorough grounding in the basic principles of microeconomics and exposure to a range of applications of the theory.

Principal learning outcomes

After completion of the first year, students will have a solid grasp of the basic theoretical material and be able to demonstrate knowledge of important areas of application. After completion of EC202 Microeconomics 2 in the second year, students will have a solid grasp of all the theoretical material and also show that they are able to select and apply an appropriate model to a given problem.

Timetabled teaching activities

40 lectures (2 per week in the Autumn and Spring Terms), plus plus weekly seminars in Autumn and Spring
