This module addresses the following questions: How are language and literacy developed and taught? What is the relationship between language, literacy and learning? How does language affect learning in the early years? How do current developments in language and literacy research inform the teaching of early literacy?

The intention of the module is for you to: Understand how language and literacy developed and taught; Understand the relationship between language, literacy and learning; Recognise the ways language affects learning in the early years so that you can plan for this; Know how current developments in language and literacy research inform the teaching of early literacy.
