Module content and teaching

Principal aims

The module aims to: Introduce students to theories associated with counting and number acquisition; Provide students with secure understanding of development of mathematical skills and learning of mathematics in early children; Explore the role of language in the mathematical development of young children; Explore a range of small-scale practical tasks that develop their understanding of theoretical perspectives on early mathematical learning; Demonstrate the role that new technologies can play in the development of children’s mathematical learning.
