Module content and teaching

Principal aims

This module aims to:Introduce the students to the concepts and methods currently used to analyse, measure and predict aerodynamic, environmental and turbulent flows of engineering interest.

Principal learning outcomes

At completion, students will be able to: 1. Acquired an understanding of how to apply measuring tools and models used in advanced fluid dynamics problems; 2. Knowledge of advanced techniques in Fluid Mechanics, necessary for the student to participate in fluid projects for civil and aeronautical applications; 3. Acquired the skills in using available measuring tools and parameterisations in fluid mechanics, including turbulence models such as RANS and k-?, as well as engineering approximations to the solution of complex environmental challenges; 4. An ability to formulate and implement the appropriate techniques to a fluid problem as well as critically analyse their limitations in a Professional engineering setting.
