Module content and teaching

Principal aims

The module aims to develop your knowledge and understanding of business within the German environment, with some comparative notions in order to assess its distinctiveness and develop skills for cross-border, cross-cultural management and business communication.

Principal learning outcomes

By the end of the module you should be able to: identify and apply appropriate academic models for the analysis of the German business system, in order to understand its coherence, evolution and distinctiveness; critically analyse and reflect on a range of contemporary business issues in the German context; critically examine and reflect on the social environment in which German business operates, considering issues such as gender, migration, environmental concerns; apply appropriate analytical skills integratively across disciplinary boundaries; understand your own experiences in Germany and case studies/materials within the German context, looking at cultural, historical, institutional and economic explanations.
