Module content and teaching

Principal aims

The purpose of the course is two-fold. In the first instance, the course will familiarise students with the French legal system and the French legal terminology to provide an indispensable basis for further study of areas of French Law. Subsequently, we will study topics in French Contract Law, Tort and Administrative Law in order to understand the manner in which law is envisaged in France.

Principal learning outcomes

The major aim of the module is to get students acquainted with the materials, methods and linguistic skills necessary for the study of French law and French legal procedure and to enable them to understand and evaluate their relationship to social and political issues. As this course is intended, in part, to prepare students of the Euro LL.B. to study for a year in France, the course is delivered in French.
