Principal aims

This module continues the microbiology and virology teaching as a natural extension of BS127 (Agents of Infectious Disease) with a focus on the influence of micro-organisms on everyday life and how infections can arise when simple hygiene goes wrong

Principal learning outcomes

Through this module students should gain an appreciation of the requirements for and the methods of control of contamination of drinking water and food. An understanding of the most prevalent infections in this context will be gained, and this will be extended into the area of emerging and re-emerging infections
