Module content and teaching

Principal aims

The principal aims of this module are: • to provide an introduction into basic methods of inferential statistics and their empirical application • to provide hands-on experience of using software for introductory data analysis in this context

Principal learning outcomes

At the end of the module, students will be able to: • understand basic elements of inferential statistics (e.g. correlation, ANOVA, and elementary multivariate regression analysis) • conduct basic quantitative analysis using secondary survey data • begin to critically engage with quantitative findings in social science journal articles.
