Module content and teaching
Principal aims
"This module aims to give students a basic understanding of developments in ELT methodology, and their underlying theoretical principles, and how these principles are related to research studies of various kinds. The module will draw on students’ own experience as learners and adopt a context-sensitive approach. At the same time, the module constitutes an introduction to different ways of teaching the language system and language skills. "
Principal learning outcomes
By the end of the module students should have enhanced their capacity to critically reflect on and evaluate key concepts in ELT in the light of their own needs, experience and knowledge of context, and enhanced their ability to develop appropriate skills, knowledge and attitudes for themselves as learners of teaching, in cooperation with others.
