Module content and teaching
The MSc concentrates largely on techniques and applications of operations research with an emphasis in the role of OR in business and organisational planning. This module provides a broader context to planning and introduces concepts and procedures appropriate for more effective long term planning.
Principal learning outcomes
Subject knowledge and understanding: Demonstrate an understanding of ‘strategy’ at the level of the individual business, in particular the basic analytical concepts, frameworks, methods and in setting long term direction. Cognitive Skills: Review the strategic position of a business and provide a critical analysis of its business plan. Key Skills: Write a comprehensive assessment of a business and it’s stated strategy. Subject-Specific/Professional Skills: Use basic accounting data and other relevant data to analyse performance.
