Module content and teaching
Within 40 pages students have to complete a dissertation on a subject approved by the MASDOC CDT and formulated by their supervisor which demonstrates detailed knowledge or approaches the frontiers of research of an area of mathematics and/or statistics within the four themes of MASDOC.
Principal learning outcomes
Learning outcomes: Write coherent mathematics texts where mathematical ideas are clearly explained and applied; Apply theoretical tools in various applied settings; Understand some main ideas and techniques in applied mathematics and statistics associated with the research areas of MASDOC; Independently review and study a subject of scientific interest; Summarise knowledge in a dissertation including literature review, description, formulation, analysis and computation where appropriate.
