Principal aims

Develop a detailed theoretical and practical understanding of the principles and application of key approaches to the testing of automotive electrical and electronic systems, and to provide a robust framework within which appropriate test techniques may be selected and applied. Develop a theoretical and practical knowledge of systems of systems engineering principles and an understanding of how increasingly complex, highly distributed automotive electrical architectures impacts upon testing and validation requirements. Provide a comprehensive understanding of the different approaches required to effectively test and validate such architectures, including advanced automated machine-based testing and robustness testing. This module covers test techniques used throughout the automotive development lifecycle from early product development through to manufacturing. With the continuing rapid growth in the scale and complexity of automotive electrical and electronic systems this module provides essential competences in an increasingly important area of automotive product development.
