Module content and teaching

Principal aims

The main purpose of this core module is broadly to enable students to develop writing skills specific to fiction, and to produce a body of work of this kind. They will also gain critical insights into contemporary literature and the processes of literary production.

Principal learning outcomes

By the end of the module the student should be able to: demonstrate a practical and critical knowledge of the construction of fiction in terms of language, genre, form, narrative, character, dialogue and description, and of representative examples by published writers.
