Module content and teaching
To promote an understanding of: the Principles of Clinical governance; the use of clinical audit; infection control; risk assessment; dental health issues related to implant dentistry or orthodontics; consent; issues related to child protection; the importance of staff training.
Principal learning outcomes
By the end of this odule you should be able to: apply Clinical Governance in a practical way; use clinical audit to improve patient care; apply quality assurance systems; understand the role of quality assurance in patient care; understand the standares for infection control and apply these in the general practice environment; use dental health programmes for smoking cessation and or oral hygiene; use staff appraisal to improve staff training; work as a team; understand teh legislation which affects general practice; apply risk assessment.
