Principal aims
The module aims to give students a comprehensive knowledge and critical understanding of current issues of public health.
Principal learning outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to demonstrate knowledge, understanding and ability in the following areas: Subject knowledge and understanding: Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge and critical understanding of current issues in public health; Demonstrate a systematic understanding of the national and international context of public health and health care policy. Subject Specific Professional Skills: Be able to implement methods of assessing health and health care; Be able to prepare appropriate public health protocols and policy documents; Be able to identify an appropriate balance of different approaches to policy questions. Cognitive skills: Ability to use critical appraisal skills; Ability to evaluate and use different sources of evidence appropriately. Key skills: Written communication skills; Oral communication skills; Working with others Problem solving.
