Module content and teaching
This module aims to show how physical principles in engineering and physics can be applied to therapeutic or investigative medicine. The module includes the complete final year undergraduate Physics module PX308 (Physics in Medicine) with a more advanced means of assessment, in addition to a series of seminars. Six seminars will be given by practitioners of physics and engineering in medicine on the recent advances in their field.
Principal learning outcomes
At completion, students should be able to: Understand and explain the physical principles underlying the areas of application covered in the module; Discuss the advantages of each therapeutic or investigative technique covered; Have an understanding of the current application of these techniques; Have an understanding of the current research into ways in which these techniques may be improved.
