Module content and teaching
Principal aims
This module will provide an introduction to formal statistical inference, and computationally intensive methods. It is intended for students with a very strong mathematical background.
Principal learning outcomes
(a) Understand key ideas of parameter estimation. b) Understand how to apply Statistical tools in various applied problems. c) Develop suitable strategies for the extraction of parameters from data sets.

Lectures per week: 3 hours, Classwork sessions: 1 hour per fortnight, Module duration: 10 weeks, Total contact hours: 35, Private study and group working: 90
