Module content and teaching
Principal aims
Students on the Diploma and MSc often have diverse academic backgrounds. This course complements ST903 Statistical Methods in giving a common starting point to the programme, with an emphasis on learning skills in practical statistics.
Principal learning outcomes
The main focus of the course is the application of statistical techniques in a practical setting. The emphasis will be on selecting appropriate analysis strategy, implementing this strategy using statistical software (currently R) the interpreting, validating and communicating results.
Timetabled teaching activities
3 hours per week for 10 weeks starting from week 1.
