Module content and teaching
Principal aims
To introduce the art of statistical model-building and to give practice in team work, in communication and presentation skills, and in writing a report on a statistical investigation.
Principal learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will: 1. Be able to build, interpret and evaluate a statistical model for a real data set 2. Have gained experience of working in a team on a statistical investigation 3. Have practiced their oral and written presentation skills
Timetabled teaching activities
3 lectures per week, 5 hours of computer practicals.

Other essential notes
This module is only available to students on four year degrees in the Department of Statistics (MMORSE and MMathStat). Prerequisite(s): ST218 Mathematical Statistics A and ST219 Mathematical Statistics B, ST221 Linear Statistical Modelling. Please note that this module is not available to taught MSC Taught Statistics students.
