Module content and teaching

Principal aims

The module seeks to study the ways in which communications systems have been designed to counteract the various natural phenomena encountered in both line and radio transmission.

Principal learning outcomes

By the end of the module the student should be able to: Appreciate the main principles of electronic communication including the fact that noise and interference restrict system performance; Determine parameters, such as error probability and signal-to-noise ratio for a system given a specification.

All terms. This module includes 30 hours of lectures and 6 hours of examples classes.Required self-study: 114 hours
