Module content and teaching

Principal aims

Discrete event simulation used in the context of manufacturing operations and planning allows a statistical approach to the planning and control of modern manufacturing plant. Building on earlier modules introducing the organisation and control of the production process and statistics, this is an advanced module in manufacturing excellence.

Principal learning outcomes

By the end of the module the student should be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge and skills to allow a new or existing manufacturing facility to be simulated using discrete event simulation.

Timetabled teaching activities

Spring. This module includes 30 hours of lectures.Required self-study: 120 hours.
