Module content and teaching

Principal aims

Optics has become an advanced engineering tool. In order to equip engineers with this tool, a course in optics, based upon physical optics, is necessary.

Principal learning outcomes

By the end of the module the student should be able to: Understand the formation of fibre optics; Understand the formation of images and holograms; Understand optical filtering, based upon further transform techniques.
