Module content and teaching
Principal aims
The main objectives of the module are to enable the you to: see the bigger, wider business and legal perspectives, and be able to integrate these with the detail of law and management today and tomorrow; learn how to work in team-based settings bringing diverse skills to the study and analysis of complex or unstructured real-world problems; learn thereby how to develop a constructive yet critical understanding of law and management issues, both local and global; learn and develop research methods and techniques.
Principal learning outcomes
By the end of the module you should be able to: critically discuss a selection of important issues in law and management; demonstrate advanced skills in analysing unstructured problems and case studies; demonstrate your skills in critical thinking in individual and class settings; confront and evaluate competing and conflicting interests and recognize some of the fundamental ethical dilemmas in the law/business environment; demonstrate advanced research, presentation and class working skills.
Timetabled teaching activities
The teaching sessions are either a class discussion of a case study with prepared presentations from syndicate groups to illustrate 'Critical Issues' identified; or individual briefings (also prepared) of 'book' reviews for group discussion.
