Module content and teaching

Principal aims

This beginners’ course aims to give students a good working knowledge of the language of contemporary Italy and to present relevant aspects of contemporary Italian society.

Principal learning outcomes

By the end of the course students will be able to: write letters and short reports; read articles from Italian newspapers and magazines and answer questions about them; sustain everyday conversation in Italian.

Timetabled teaching activities

The course is taught by 3 hours per week for 21 weeks (reading weeks: week 6 of terms 1 and 2), which combine listening, speaking, writing and reading skills.
