Module content and teaching

Principal aims

The module develops further competence in practical use of Japanese in a social, study and work-related context. Students will learn to accomplish a wide range of communicative tasks in an accurate, fluent and approriate manner. Students will also gain further insights into the modern and traditional culture and society of Japan.

Principal learning outcomes

By the end of the module students will have: developed good language proficiency in a variety of general situations, including informal and formal contexts; consolidated and expanded listening, reading, writing and speaking skills; became more proficient in using a wider range of register and style both in speaking and writing; improved awareness and knowledge of life and culture in Japan.

Timetabled teaching activities

One two-hour language class each week, plus at least 3 hours structured independent learning each week. Commencing Term 1, week 2.
