Module content and teaching
Aims of the Module: To develop students’ theoretical understanding of approaches to counselling; To relate counselling theory to counselling practice within the medical environment;To develop students’ ability to reflect on their practice of counselling skills.
Principal learning outcomes
By the end of this module students will be able to demonstrate: Development in understanding of the theories of counselling; Development in critical understanding of the processes involved in the practice of counselling; Development in knowledge and understanding of the application of counselling skills within medical settings.
Timetabled teaching activities
10 sessions. Each week will contain tutor input, seminar discussion, paired and small group activities. On some occasions videos will be viewed and discussed.
