Module content and teaching

Principal aims

By the end of the module the student should be able to: demonstrate knowledge and understanding of some of the key issues and disputes in 20th century existentialism and phenomenology; demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the development of the ideas of the period; understand and assess critically and intelligently a key text in this field – Heidegger’s Being and Time; practice the presentation of ideas and arguments in a clear and rigorous fashion, both orally and in written form.
